Women's Basketball Falls to Herkimer College, 71-47

The Genesee Cougars women's basketball team struggled in their matchup against Herkimer College, falling 71-47 at home. Despite a strong second half, the Cougars couldn't overcome a slow start, finishing the first quarter down 22-5.

Jaelyn Morris led Genesee with 13 points, hitting 1-4 from three and grabbing 6 rebounds. Sloan Jonathan added 13 points off the bench, shooting an efficient 6-9 from the field. Ava Santiago contributed 6 points and 4 assists, while Kiara van der Jagt contributed with 4 rebounds and 1 point.

Genesee shot 32.8% from the field and was outpaced by Herkimer's fast breaks, unable to recover after falling behind early. Despite shooting 71.4% from the free-throw line, the Cougars were unable to keep pace as Herkimer extended their lead in the second half.

The Cougars will look to regroup and bounce back in their next game at home, tomorrow at 1:00 PM for a match up against Mohawk Valley.
