Canandaigua, NY... The softball team hit the road to face Finger Lakes Community College They would split the day against the Lakers, dropping the first 8-0 and taking the second game 5-4.
GAME 1:
Despite solid pitching from Shelby Scharfen—who struck out nine and allowed just three earned runs—the Cougars couldn't break through offensively. Genesee recorded three hits, with Scharfen, Chloe Milles, and Kaylynn O'Connell each contributing singles. Scharfen also added a stolen base, but the offense struggled to string together any rallies. Finger Lakes capitalized on key opportunities throughout the game to secure the win in five innings.
GAME 2:
In the second game of their doubleheader at Finger Lakes Community College, Genesee bounced back with a strong 5–4 win. The Cougars tallied 10 hits, with Ashley Blair leading the way, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two doubles. Maddie Hughson added a double and an RBI, while Catherine Wolck tripled and drove in a run. Pitcher Sloan Jonathan was solid in the circle, throwing a complete game and allowing just one earned run while striking out five. Genesee's offense came alive in the third and fifth innings to seal the victory.
They look to add another win as they come back home to take on Jefferson CC for a double header starting at 3:00 PM.
