Volleyball Blanks Lazers on Sophomore Night
BATAVIA, NY... The Genesee Women's Volleyball team matched up against the Onondoga Lazers on Tuesday, October 8th, where they would take out the Lazers in a 3-1 Win on Sophomore night. The team celebrated Sophomores Elena Azzi, Marissa Ciufo, Bella Guerrette, Sydney Hnat, Ana Semear & Manu Sartorato.
The team took care of business in the first set, with a tight 25-21 lead over the Lazers. In the second set, the Cougars dominated on the offense with a 25-15 set win. The third set would fare them difficulty, as the Lazers looked to close the gap, as the set finished in a close 25-23 score, in favor of Onondoga. Despite that, the Cougars would not go out without a fight, especially on Sophomore night. The team took over the floor and would take the set and win in a 25-21 4th set win, closing out the game to end their regular season home game stretch.
Marissa Ciufo led with a team high 19 kills, Sloan Jonathan led in assists with 24, and Bella Guerrette led with 17 digs.
The team looks to add another win this thursday as they head to Finger Lakes Community College for a match-up against the Lakers starting at 6:00 PM.
