Soccer Adds Center Back in Rayburn
On March 28th, Genesee Community College held Accepted Student Day and Kate Rayburn committed to the Genesee Women's Soccer team for the 2025 season. Kate is a 5'7" center back who started 3 years for the Greece Athena Varsity girls' soccer team. She has been First Team All-Monroe County and All-Greater Rochester Honorable Mention for Soccer, and All-Greater Rochester for Flag Football, as well as a captain for both teams. She has played Flag Football for her high school for 3 years and is a line back or slot receiver. During her sophomore year of high school, she ran mid-distance for the indoor track team as well. For the last four years, Rayburn plays center midfield for WNY Flash 2007 Slater/Groth. She has also played for Cobras, Lancers, and Greece United in the past. Kate is a High Honor Roll student with distinction and is also in National Honor Society and Art Club for her high school.
Kate will become one of two Genesee Cougars who have been Greece Athena alum. For the last two seasons, Grace Devine has been a starting midfielder for the Cougars and is an alum of GA. "We would love to continue a rapport with Greece Athena and their team. Both Grace and Kate are incredible players, and we are so pumped about Kate committing to us. We are currently building our defense around her and know she will fit perfectly", stated Head Coach Jeff Reyngoudt.
Jeff and Macy have been meeting with a lot of recruits and have some more commitments coming up. The Cougars ended their 2024 season with an 8-3-2 record. If you are interested in trying out for next year's 2025 Genesee Cougars, please email Jeff Reyngoudt at jcreyngoudt@genesee.edu
