Leeds Signs with Genesee Women's Soccer

On February 23rd, Katie Leeds committed to the Genesee Women's Soccer team for the 2024 season. Katie is a 5'8" powerhouse forward and attacking midfielder who started 4 years for the Akron Varsity girls' soccer team. She had 42 career goals and 15 career assists. Leeds was named Second Team All-League in 2021, First Team All-League in 2022, and Honorable Mention in 2023. She is a four-sport athlete where she participates in not only soccer, but basketball, track, and flag football. In 2023 she was Honorable Mention for All-League in basketball as well. She plans to major in General Studies while attending at GCC.

Katie was teammates in high school with Cydney Brandl and Sarah Kidder who played for the Cougars this past season. Sarah was the starting keeper and Cydney started every game as either a center midfielder or defender, as well as becoming a captain during her freshman season. Leeds also comes from a program where GCC has recruited from heavily. Mackenzie O'Brien and Leah Czechowski, who were Akron alums, also played for the Cougars when they won Regionals and appeared at the National Tournament in 2018. "We love recruiting from Akron because they always have such hardworking and skilled soccer players. Having Leeds become a part of our team is a huge win for us and we are so excited for this upcoming season. This recruiting class is shaping up to be one of our best in a long time," stated Head Coach Jeff Reyngoudt.

Jeff and Macy have been meeting with a lot of recruits and are finishing up recruiting for the upcoming year. The Cougars ended their 2023 season with a 9-5-1 record. If you are interested in trying out for next year's 2024 Genesee Cougars, please email Jeff Reyngoudt at jcreyngoudt@genesee.edu.
