BATAVIA, NY... The Genesee Women's Basketball team suffered a tough loss to the Niagara County CC Thunderwolves at home on Wednesday.
Alayah Sweeney led Genesee in scoring, netting 15 points and pulling down 16 rebounds, adding another double-double to her total this season. Erina Ishiguro had 12 points for the Lady Cougars and LisBeth Pineda Polanco added another 6 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists to the scoresheet for Genesee.
Genesee turned the ball over 17 times, leading to 14 points of turnovers for the Thunderwolves. Niagara County's points in the paint helped them build their lead througout the game, outscoring Genesee 38-20 in the low-post area.
Genesee (12-11, 5-2) travels to Jamestown CC for the 2019-2020 regular season finale on Sat. at 1pm. Seeding for the Region III Division II Championship tournament will be available Sunday, February 23.
