Niagara and Genesee women's basketball tipoff

The Genesee Community College women's basketball team regrouped in the second half and played the visiting Niagara County Community College Thunderwolves even in the second half at 41 points apiece, but ended up on the short end of an 82-69 final.

The Cougars out-scored NCCC 18-17 in the final quarter and played the Thunderwolves to with 1-2 points in two of the other quarters, but in the end they couldn't make up the deficit from second-quarter play.

TaLia Burgess led Genesee from the bench with 19 points, while Rosalyn Sealey wasn't far behind with 18. Sealey also added a team-high five assists.

Reika Murota added a dozen points from four threes as both Murota and Burgess were hot from outside the arc with seven combined threes.

Jasmine Holmes registered seven rebounds to lead the team, but Niagara's high percentage shooting from the charity stripe may have decided the game with the Thunderwolves going 20-for-24 on the night.

The Lady Cougars next travel to Lakeland Nov. 21 for a 5:30 p.m. tipoff.
