Swimming & Diving Hit Time Drops In First Home Meet

Batavia, NY - Genesee Community College competed in a home invitational against Erie Community College Kats. Multiple Cougars added personal best times and season bests in their first outing at home, with national qualifying times as well.

 

On the Men’s side, Joshua Beardsley ended the meet with 2 first place finishes, in the 100yd fly with a time of 1:07.06 and the 500yd freestyle with a time of 6:18.21. Ethan Merrill Added a national qualifying time for the 50 breast within his 100yd breaststroke, with a time of 1:25.65 and 38.16 split to send him to florida. Merrill also had a third place finish in the 100yd freestyle. Thomas Strzelec also added himself on the board with a first place finish in the 1-Meter diving and a fourth place finish in the 50 yd freestyle with a time of 27.81, a season best for both. Austin Layne made his debut in the 50yd freestyle, snatching himself a time of 36.42.

 

The mens team also swam in the 200yd freestyle relay, with a 3rd place finish and a time of 2:03.34.

 

The Women’s team made their inaugural debut with Grace Gregoire earning herself a first place finish in the 1-Meter diving, with a score of 99.9. To add to that, Mackenzie Winnie also earned a first place finish in the 50yd freestyle in 38.7 and a second place finish for the 100yd freestyle in 1:29.13.

 

The Cougars will be done for the semester until January 13th when they travel to Erie Community College for an invitational at the Burt Flickinger Center.
