Genesee Has Two Top-Five Finishes at Region 3 Championships

ROCHESTER, NY… The Genesee Community College swimming and diving team competed at the 2019 NJCAA Region III/Northeast District Championships hosted at Monroe Community College. The men's team finished in second place with 456 points and were named Most Improved of the meet. The women's team finished in fifth place with 94 points. The accolades came in for Ferran Martinez who was co-male swimmer of the meet.

At the end of day one, the Genesee men lead Monroe Community College 151-147. The Genesee women are fourth with 35 points. The team of Brandon Brown, Carlitos Sanchez, Tyler Stachowiak, and Ryan Mahaney placed first in the 200 Free relay. Ferran Martinez won the 200 IM. Genesee men placed second in the 400 Medley relay. Elizabeth Richardson won the 200 IM to lead the Genesee women at the end of the first day.

Day two saw Tyler Stachowiak and Brandon Brown finished second and third in the 200 freestyle. Ferran Martinez won the 400 IM. The men's team finished second in the 200 Medley relay. Carlitos Sanchez finished third in the 100 Backstroke. Genesee placed first in the 800 Free relay.  Natalie Amico won the 100 Fly to lead the Genesee women. Libby Richardson finished third in the 200 free. Natalie Amico placed third in the 100 Backstroke. The Genesee men after day two were in second place and the women were fourth.

The third and final day of competition saw Ferran Martinez win the 200 Fly with teammate Ryan Mahaney placing in fourth. The team of Ferran Martinez, Tyler Stachowiak, Brandon Brown, and Carlitos Sanchez win the 400 Free relay. Carlitos Sanchez, Brandon Brown, and Tyler Stachowiak finished second through fourth respectively in the 100 Free. Ethan Heim and Brandon Cutter finished fourth and fifth in the 200 Breaststroke. Libby Richardson placed third in the 200 Backstroke. Ana Cerezer Pinto finished seventh in the 100 Free final.
