BATAVIA, NY...Genesee Softball took on the Monroe University Mustangs at home on Sunday, April 20th, falling in both games to the Mustangs.
Game 1:
They started strong with three runs in the first inning, but their bats quieted for the remainder of the matchup. Sloan Jonathan contributed a double, while Chloe Milles drove in the team's only RBI. Caitlin Ryan was active on the basepaths with two stolen bases, adding pressure on the defense. Shelby Scharfen pitched the full seven innings, allowing 11 hits and 15 runs, while keeping home runs to a minimum.
Game 2:
Kiara van der Jagt delivered an RBI single, while Caitlin Ryan added to the offense with a triple. Maddie Hughson also contributed with a hit and a run scored, but the team struggled to generate consistent offense. On the mound, Ryan pitched a full five innings, allowing 12 hits and 13 runs, while securing three strikeouts.
The team will look to improve as they take on Penn State Scranton on Friday, April 25th at 3:00 & 5:00 PM for a double-header.
