BATAVIA, NY… The Genesee Community College men's soccer team shutout the SUNY Adirondack Timberwolves 10-0 Sunday afternoon in the Region 3 North A District quarterfinal.
Eduardo Leiva scored in the sixth minute to open the scoring for Genesee off a Jan Bimmler corner kick. Three minutes later, Consti Zielke made it 2-0 for the Cougars, with Joseph Armand getting the assist. Casper Jaartsveld would score with five minutes remaining in the half to increase the lead to 3-0, with the assist going to Kyrell Kavanagh getting the assist.
Jaartsveld would score his second of the match just 26 seconds into the second half off a pass from Luca Welsh. Welsh would score to make it 5-0 for Genesee just a minute later. Taylor Beardsworth-March scored to make it 6-0 in the 53rd minute. Kyrell Kavanagh scored to make it 7-0 and then just two minutes later, Zielke would score his second of the match with Kavanagh getting the assist. Beardsworth-March would find the net for the second time to make it 9-0 off a tip shot from Angus Collington Santos. Kavanagh would score his second of the match with 15 minutes remaining to make it 10-0 for the blue and gold.
Julius Christ and Alvaro Hermosa split time in net for the Cougars to earn the shutout.
#5 Genesee will travel to #4 Mohawk Valley Community College on Wednesday, October 23 in the Region III North A District Semifinals with the winner advancing to the championship game on Sunday, October 27th at Herkimer College.
