BATAVIA, NY… The Genesee Community College men's soccer team hung on and defeated the Mohawk Valley Community College Hawks 3-1 Wednesday afternoon.
Ethan Hemmings scored in the 13th minute off a pass from Jan Bimmler to get Genesee on the board first. Rio Bert would score off a corner kick in the 31st minute to increase the lead to 2-0 for the blue and gold.
Late in the second half, Jan Bimmler would find the back of the net after a pass from Noah Ward to make it 3-1.
Julius Christ made six saves for Genesee.
The Cougars travel to Jefferson Community College on Saturday, September 28 for a 3:00pm contest. Their next home game will be on Whiteout Night, Wednesday October 2nd at 6:30pm against Onondaga.
