Genesee Wins Andie Carpenter Cup With Win Against North Country

BATAVIA, NY… The #2 nationally ranked Genesee Community College men's soccer team defeated the North Country Community College Saints 15-0 on Sunday afternoon to retain the Andie Carpenter Cup. 

 

Andie Carpenter was a native of Holley and was a radiological technology program major at North Country when she passed away in January of 2019, from Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS). EDS is a disease that weakens the connective tissues of the body, weakens blood vessels and organs. No cure has been found for EDS. Genesee and North Country has played for the Andie Carpenter Cup every year since 2019. Andie's family has created a memorial page on Facebook, Adventuresinlove4Andie, and has a scholarship in her name and memory at both Holley Central School, and North Country Community College. 

 

The Cougars offense was on all cylinders Sunday afternoon. Antonio Toscano got Genesee on the board just two minutes into the game, off a cross-pass from Justin Madjeski. Felipe Bueno would put Genesee up a pair just minutes later off a pass from Eduardo LeivaAxel Monells would up the Cougar lead just 10 minutes later. With less than 19 minutes remaining in the opening half, Justin Madjeski would score off a indirect kick.. Malik Watson would make it 5-0. With 12 minutes remaining in the half, Bueno would score his second of the match off a pass from Madjeski. Toscano would capitalize on a PK to add to the Cougars lead. Madjeski would score off a Jan Bimmler corner kick. Bimmler would make it 10-0 just before halftime, off a pass from Bueno. 

 

Jake Wiseman would score early in the second half after receiving a pass from Joseph Armand to add to the Cougars lead. Kosuke Sugitani would score off a BImmler pass to make it 12-0. Joseph Armand would score with the assist from Jake Wiseman to make it 13-0 Genesee. Bimmler would score his second of the game off a pass from Luiz Gustavo, and then minutes later, would score his fourth of the match. 

 

Alvaro Hermosa earned the shutout between the pipes for the Blue and Gold. . 

 

Genesee (12-0-2) hosts Niagara County Community College on Wednesday, October 18 at 4pm.
