Men’s Soccer defeats Tompkins-Cortland Community College 9-0

Batavia, New York- The Cougars of Genesee Community College took on the Panthers of Tompkins-Cortland Community College on a rainy Sunday afternoon. The Cougars defeated the previously undefeated Panthers, scoring nine goals in the 90-minute match. The first goal came in just the fourth minute of the game when Malik Watson (Buffalo, New York) finished a pass from Kyrell Kavanagh (Bradford, England). Genesee scored two more goals in the first half, with Unai Cruz (Andorra La Vella, Andorra) assisting Harrison Frearson (Ilkeston, England) before adding his own goal with the help of Axel Monells (Barcelona, Spain).  

The Cougars would come out strong in the second half, scoring just 27 seconds in on a goal from Kavanagh. Genesee had the opportunity to put away another on a penalty kick but could not capitalize on the opportunity. Jan Bimmler (Cologne, Germany) would find the back of the net in the 56th minute making the score 5-0. In the 64th minute, Kavanagh added his second goal of the game unassisted. Cruz would add another assist to the scoresheet by helping Cougar's Captain, Sonny Simpson (Perth, Scotland) add a goal to make it 7-0. The Cougars were awarded another penalty kick in the 81st minute, this time Felipe Bueno (Bogota, Colombia) would take the kick, putting it past the goalkeeper for 8th goal of the match. The final goal of the match was scored just four minutes later when Obie Casson would score on a pass from Antonio Pellegrino (Lancaster, New York) making the final score 9-0 

 

The Genesee Community College Men's Soccer is back in action Wednesday, September 27th as they tack on Jefferson Community College.
