Men’s Soccer Puts Away Seven to Defeat the Jayhawks 7-3

Jamestown, New York- Freshman forward, Malik Watson (Buffalo, New York) scored five goals for the Cougars in a 7-3 victory over the Jayhawks of Jamestown Community College Wednesday afternoon. Watson got Genesee on the board just 26 seconds into the match assisted by freshman midfielder Harrison Freason (Ilkeston, England). Watson would go on to score the next three goals of the half, the second goal assisted by Freshman midfielder, Jan Bimmler (Cologne, Germany), the third by freshman forward, Kyrell Kavanagh (Bradford, England) and the fourth by sophomore forward, Unai Cruz (Andorra La Velle, Andorra) to end the half.

The Jayhawks would try to stage a comeback, scoring the first goal of the half to make it 4-1 but the Cougars would quickly answer with Watson adding his fifth goal unassisted in an outstanding showing. Jamestown would put up two goals in a row, but the Cougars would put up two more of their own to round out the scoring. Watson would add an assist on Genesee's sixth goal of the afternoon by sophomore forward Kaleem Remekie (Toronto, Canada). The seventh and final goal came around the 70th minute when freshman defenseman, Eduardo Leiva (Santiago, Chile) assisted Bimmler to make the final score 7-3.

The afternoon's victory would improve Genesee's record to 3-0, the Cougars hit the road again this Saturday, September 9th as they head to Hudson Valley Community College.
