BATAVIA, NY... The Genesee Community College Men's Soccer team shutout 6-seed Anne Arundel in the NJCAA DIII Men's Soccer National Championship Quarterfinals, 5-0. 3-seed Genesee was powered on offense by Unai Cruz Prieto, who scored three goals in the win. Spike Pope and Matheus Spina added another goal a piece for the Cougars. Oliver Alaviuhkola stopped both shots he faced in net.
Genesee will now shift their focus to the National Semifinal matchup agaisnt familiar Region III rival, Herkimer College. Herkimer came out of the October 5 regular season battle with the win, 2-0.
3-seed Genesee vs. 2-seed Herkimer is scheduled for Friday, November 11, at 6:30pm in Batavia.
