Men's Soccer Enters the NJCAA National Championships as the No. 3 Seed

Genesee Men's Soccer secures the No. 3 seed

BATAVIA, NY... The Genesee Community College Men's Soccer team is headed back to the NJCAA National Championships. Genesee has earned the No. 3-seed and Genesee Community College is the host site for the NJCAA DIII Men's Soccer National Championship Tournament. The Cougars finished the regular season and the Region III playoffs with a combined record of 12-3-3.

Genesee went into the Region III Championship tournament as the 2-seed and earned wins over 7-seed Onondaga, 4-0, and against defeated 3-seed Mohawk Valley in penalty kicks in the Region III North District B Championship to advance to the NJCAA National Championship. 

The Cougars were led offensively by Matheus Spina (19 goals, 10 assists, 48 points), Luis Felipe Karam (9 goals, 1 assist, 19 points), Unai Cruz Prieto, Nathan Gilhooly, and Sonny Simpson all contributed 8 goals a peice. Gilhooly had a team-high 22 assists. Oliver Alaviuhkola allowed 9 goals through 11 appearances, with one shutout and his goaltending during PK's in the Region III Championship was crucial in sending the Cougars to the National Championship tournament.

Genesee will go head-to-head with 6-seed Anne Arundel Community College on November 9 at 6:30pm at Genesee Community College in the NJCAA National Championship Quarterfinals.
