Spina and Watkis Named NJCAA DIII Men’s Soccer All-Americans 

BATAVIA, NY… Matheus Spina and Romaine Watkis have been named NJCAA Division III Men's Soccer All-Americans for the 2021-22 season. Both Spina and Watkis were selected as second-team All-Americans. 

Matheus Spina scored 17 goals this season for the Cougars, five of which were game-winning goals. The freshman midfielder from Palmas, Brazil finished the season with 41 points for Genesee. Spina started 13 of the 17 games he appeared in this season.  

A native of Ajax, Ontario, Canada, sophomore defender Romaine Watkis scored eight goals and four assists this season.  Watkis was key to the success of the Genesee defense, along with goalkeepers Kyle McLeish and Augusto Rivero Fernandez combined to only allow 14 goals to get by them.  

Genesee finished the season with a record of 15-1-2, winning the Region III Championship and participated in the 2021 NJCAA Division III National Championships.
