The No. 3 Genesee Community College men's soccer team recorded its third-consecutive shutout with a 6-0 win over visiting Mercyhurst North East at the team's annual Pink and Sophomore nights.

Genesee celebrated breast cancer awareness month by donning pink jerseys, while sophomore players were honored in a pre-game ceremony.

The Cougars extended their unbeaten streak to 14 games and recorded their ninth shutout of the season with three of those coming in the last three games where Genesee out-scored North Country Community College, Clinton Community College and visiting Mercyhurst by a collective 24-0.

Current National Junior College Athletic Association Region III Male Athlete of the Week and Cougar Male Athlete of the Week Glenn Holmes led the way with three points from a goal and an assist.

Holmes was just one of 10 players to find the scoresheet and along with current NJCAA D-III Men's Soccer Player of the Week Charlie Livesey were the only two Cougars to factor in on more than a single goal with Livesey recording a pair of helpers.

Also scoring for Genesee was Philip Melo, Billy Murphy, Camilo Pernet Jimenez, Iyad Lablack and Hijiri Sano with the latter credited with the game winner with Genesee's opening goal. Adding assists for the Cougars was Kyle McMillen, Ross White and Ben Wattis.

Genesee out-shot the Saints 57-1 with 30 finding the net. At the other end, David Ormiston and Gaurav Cheema split the shutout for the Cougars.

The men's team next travels to SUNY Broome Oct. 21 for a 3 p.m. start.
