BATAVIA, NY... Genesee men's lacrosse earned a convincing win at home, taking down the College of DuPage behind a complete team effort and outstanding faceoff control. The Cougars outshot their opponent 48-18 and collected 53 ground balls while limiting turnovers and maintaining possession throughout the game.
Brian Freeman led the way with four goals and one assist on nine shots, while Landon Jaeckle added a hat trick and an assist. Jaxon Mohawk netted two goals and dished out two assists, and Michael Hayes also scored twice. Luke Smeader was dominant on faceoffs, winning 19 of 21 draws, helping Genesee control tempo from the start.
On the defensive end, Drew Helms played all 60 minutes in goal, stopping 10 of 18 shots faced. Genesee allowed just eight goals and held DuPage scoreless in multiple stretches. The Cougars also forced 17 caused turnovers and allowed no man-up goals.
The victory adds to Genesee's strong season and look to continue that into the playoffs as they are set to take on Herkimer's General's this saturday at home in the Region 3B Championship.
