Cougars Dominate Regional Championship
Batavia, NY - The Genesee Community College Men's Lacrosse program took down the Hudson Valley Vikings in the Region III B championship, to claim the title yet again. With a dominating final score of 28-3 in favor of the cougars, crowning them as champions.
From the jump, Christian LeFeurve made his presence known to the Vikings, scoring 3 straight goals for the Cougars, putting them up early in the first. They would give up one down the pipes, but from there it became the Cougars game. 8 straight goals from Genesee would throw off the vikings, leading straight into the second quarter. 11-1 in favor of Genesee.
There would be no answer from Hudson Valley, as a barrage of goals continued. LeFeurve, Brian Freeman, Luke Smeader, James Reif and Bryce Hand all added a goal in the second. Only allowing 1 goal in the net for Hudson Valley. 18-2 in favor of Genesee.
In the third quarter, other players such as Griffin Utz, Antonio Pellot and Amare Staton put goals on the board as they continue to control the game. The last goal from the Vikings would come in with 10 seconds left in the third. 23-3 in favor of Genesee.
Reif, Smeader, Pellot, Johnson, and Freeman would seal the deal, all with 1 goal to end their championship domination.
Christian LeFeurve was named player of the game with 9 Goals, 4 Assists. LeFeurve would also surpass the 100 Goals mark with the goals he had in the game.
Luke Smeader tied the schools ground balls record with 24 in the game.
They look to continue their hot streak further into the post season as they head to Onondaga to take on the Lazers, this saturday in the national play-in game, starting at 1:00 PM.
