Men's Basketball Takes down DII #13 National ranked Monroe
BATAVIA, NY... The Genesee Men's Basketball team faced Monroe Community College this past Wednesday at Home, taking down the nationally ranked Division II program with a final score of 84-80.
Genesee trailed the Tribunes at half with a score of 43-40, but shortly after half the Tribunes would come out hot. The Cougars' 7-0 run against Monroe helped them gain momentum back. Back and forth field goals from both teams kept everyone on their toes, but ultimately in the end, the Cougars would be the ones to take home the win.
Freshman Damont Hanton had a team high of 26 points, with 8 rebounds. Sophomore Zaphian scott let the team with a total of 5 rebounds and 5 defense rebounds. Freshman Mamadou Traore had an impressive 6 steals on the day.
The team looks to add to their win column this saturday, November 23, as they host Fulton-Montgomery Community College at 3pm.
