BATAVIA, NY… Genesee Men's basketball team faced off against SUNY Niagara in their first game of the season, falling 70-98 on Saturday afternoon. They would follow that game up with their first win of the season against Erie's Kats. Tallying it in at 79-74 in a close match up.
In their game agaisnt SUNY Niagara, Damont Hanton led the team with 11 points, shooting an efficient 5-for-7 from the field. Rayvon Weir contributed 14 points, including four three-pointers, and grabbed five rebounds. Carlos Perez added seven points and five rebounds, while Zaphian Scott chipped in with four points, one rebound, and one assist. Mamadou Traore also had a strong outing, scoring eight points and collecting four rebounds.
In their game against the Kats, Antoine McFadden led the team with a standout performance, scoring 15 points and grabbing 8 rebounds, while shooting an efficient 7-for-8 from the field. Damont Hanton added 17 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 assists, providing a strong all-around effort. Carlos Perez also had a solid outing, contributing 7 points, 2 assists, and 1 steal in 21 minutes of play.
