BATAVIA, NY... The baseball team took on Onondoga's Lazers on March 27th in a thrilling double header. The Cougars took down the Lazers 11-10 in game 1 and 7-0 in game 2.
Game 1 -
Genesee defeated Onondaga 11-10, coming back from a late deficit with a strong offensive push. Patricio Garcia led the way, going 4-for-5 with five RBIs. Cooper Hassall contributed two doubles and two RBIs, while Wyatt Argentieri hit a home run.
Genesee trailed after an eight-run fifth inning by Onondaga, but answered with four runs in the sixth and seventh to take the lead. Despite six defensive errors, Quinten Rigters and Nicholas Freville closed the game without allowing a run, securing the win.
Game 2 -
Genesee blanked Onondaga 7-0, led by Shawn Kimball's dominant complete-game shutout. He allowed just two hits and struck out seven in seven innings.
Genesee's offense took control early, scoring four runs in the first inning. Tyler Marino homered, Cooper Hassall doubled and drove in two runs, and Dwayne Dabian added an RBI. Aggressive baserunning contributed, with Genesee stealing eight bases.
Onondaga's pitchers struggled, allowing six walks and seven earned runs. Genesee remained error-free in the field.
The Cougars were set to play the Lazers at Onondoga but was postponed due to weather, they will look to April 1st where they are set to play SUNY Niagara at home starting at 2:00 PM.
