Cougars Improve to 11-0

GCC sweeps Erie

GAME ONE

Genesee Community College defeated Erie Community College 14-10 on Sunday after taking the lead late in game one. The game was tied at ten with the Cougars batting in the bottom of the sixth when Robert McCullough hit a solo homer.

Both pitching staffs had their hands full, frequently dealing with runners on base. The Cougars collected 18 hits and Erie community college had nine.

Genesee notched seven runs in the fifth inning.  Cooper HasselRyota HagaDwayne DabianAnthony Hampton, and Victor Alongi each had RBIs in the big inning.

Tyrone Woods was the winning pitcher for the Cougars. The pitcher surrendered ten runs on nine hits over six innings, striking out nine.  Hassel threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen and recorded the last three outs to earn the save for the Cougars 10 win of the season. 

The Genesee team tallied 18 hits in the game. Anthony BrotzAlongiWilfredo PerezHasselHagaDabian, and ZavianCrosby each racked up multiple hits.  Alongi and Brotz each collected three hits to lead.  The team was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Haga made the most plays with ten.  The team also stole five bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Brotz led the way with two.

GAME TWO

Genesee men's baseball team nabbed the lead late in the game in a 7-5 victory over Erie community college on Sunday to improve to 11-0 on the season. The game was tied at five with Genesee Community College Cougars Varsity batting in the bottom of the sixth when Anthony John Brotz tripled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run. 

Erie Community College took an early lead in the second inning.  Evans drove in one when Evans tripled.

Korey Canton was credited with the victory for Genesee. The righty lasted six innings, allowing six hits and five runs while striking out four. Dwayne Dabian threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.  Dabian recorded the last three outs to earn the save for the undefeated team.

Connor Desiderio took the loss for Erie community college. The hurler went six innings, allowing seven runs on 11 hits, striking out four and walking zero.

Genesee totaled 11 hits in the game.  BrotzAnthony HamptonVictor Alongi, and Zavian Crosby all managed multiple hits for the team.  CrosbyAlongiHampton, and Brotz all had two hits to lead to its 11th win on the season.
