Genesee Baseball Collects Conference and Region Awards

BATAVIA, NY… The Genesee Community College baseball team had several members pick up post-season accolades and being named to All-Conference and All-Region teams. For the fourth time in the last five seasons, Genesee had a 20+ win season, going 29-20. The season ended for the blue and gold in the NJCAA Region III playoffs, falling to Herkimer College.

Pitcher Jakob MacLeod (Toronto, Ontario) and infielder Deion Rosalia (Willemstad, Curaco) were named to the NJCAA Region III All-Region 2nd team. MacLeod hit .300 this season. On the mound, MacLeod threw two complete games and had an ERA of 1.59. MacLeod was also named to the Western New York Athletic Conference (WNYAC) All-Conference 2nd team. Rosalia hit .444 with four home runs, and drove in 35 runs for the Cougars.

Rosalia joins teammates Eliel Martinez Viera (Juncos, Puerto Rico) and John Faynor (Lima, NY) on the WNYAC All-Conference 1st team. Eliel Martinez Viera hit .392 with eight homeruns, 36 RBI's and 27 stolen bases for the freshman centerfielder. Rightfielder John Faynor hit .441 for the blue and gold with 27 RBI's. Faynor had an On Base Percentage (OBP) of .503 and had a .478 slugging percentage.
