Cougars Fall to Generals in Sub-Regionals

HERKIMER, NY – The Genesee Community College baseball team suffered two crushing losses Saturday at Veterans Memorial Park in Little Falls as the host Herkimer College Generals defeated Genesee 15-4 and 11-1, both in five innings to end Genesee's season in the NJCAA Region III Sub-Regionals.

A two-run home run by Eliel Martinez Viera got Genesee off and running in game one. Martinez ended game one with a double. Rodolfo Rodriguez had an RBI. Parker Cole struggled in the bottom of the first, giving up seven Generals runs. Cole was relieved after 3 1/3rd innings, striking out two. Jonathan Toro pitched in relief giving up five runs in over an inning of work.

Game two saw Zachery Zinck and Colin Noeth pitch for Genesee in a game that mirrored game one. John Faynor had an RBI double, scoring Elizam De Jesus.

Genesee finishes the season with a record of 29-20. The team scored a total of 354 runs this season with the team having a .367 batting average.
