Cougars Comeback Falls Short; Erie Sweeps Genesee

BATAVIA, NY – Genesee Community College baseball dropped two games to Erie Community College, 16-0 and 13-9 Thursday afternoon. With the loss, GCC is 19-13 overall and 7-6 in the West Division while ECC is now 17-15 and 9-4 in Region III West Division play.

In the second game, ECC took a 10-5 lead, but GCC battled back as Elizam De Jesus blasted a 3-run home run to center field and Gabe Diaz, Bryant Fontanez and Briann Castillo (RBI double) cut the lead to 10-9. However, ECC's Jerseley Cicilia hit a 3-run home run in the seventh to give ECC the breathing room. Eliel Martinez (run), and Deion Rosalia (run) each had two hits while Castillo had three hits and two runs and De Jesus had two hits.

Colin Noeth (Byron-Bergen) went four innings while Tyler Prospero (Notre Dame) had struck out three in two innings of work.

In the first game, ECC's Zach Mather tossed a one-hitter, giving up a two-out single to Martinez.

Genesee hosts Niagara County Community College on Saturday at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
