BATAVIA, NY – Genesee Community College sophomore pitcher Jakob MacLeod has two wins this baseball season for the Cougars. Both no-hitters.

MacLeod tossed a complete-game no-hitter with seven strikeouts and two walks as GCC defeated Finger Lakes Community College (FLCC), 6-0. FLCC won game one, 14-1. GCC improves to 18-10 on the season and 6-2 in Region III Western Division play and in third place. FLCC is now 18-13 and 8-2 in division play and in second place behind division leader Niagara County Community College (21-5, 9-1).

"I knew I had the no-hitter going and I kept shaking my head to tell myself not to think about it," said MacLeod, who is from Toronto. "Our pitching coach (Randy Mutt) kept telling me to sit in the same corner each inning. I didn't have to think, I just trusted every pitch they called because it seemed everything was working."

In the seventh, MacLeod had to face the heart of the FLCC order but got a strikeout, a ground out to second then a comebacker to end the game.

"Today was a reflection of how hard he worked in the off-season on pitching and the small things, like keeping hitters off-balance and unable to get good timing," said Genesee head coach Skip Sherman. "He was fun to sit back and watch. It gave our hitters a chance to focus on quality at-bats and get a win. The first game was tough because Colin Noeth pitched outstanding for us but gave up five unearned runs and took a loss that did not reflect how well he threw."

In the second game, Deion Rosalia provided all the offense needed, blasting two doubles, 2 RBI's and two runs while Jordi Agosto (East)  had two hits, 3 RBI's and stole two bases for GCC, also for the Cougars, Eliel Martinez doubled and scored, John Faynor (Lima Christian) singled and scored, Elizam De Jesus had two hits, a stolen base and scored and Briann Castilo had a hit.

In the first game, Martinez hit a solo home run for GCC and singled while Faynor had a double. Gabe Diaz had two hits and Frankie Santiago (Franklin) and De Jesus added hits. Noeth struck out seven in four innings int he first game while Anthony Kanaval (Dansville) had a strikeout in one inning of work and Ryan Voss (Barker) struck out two.

Genesee hosts Jamestown Community College at 1 pm and 3 pm Saturday, then travel to Jamestown for two games on Sunday. Entering the weekend's NJCAA Region III and Western New York Athletic Conference contests, the Cougars has a one-game lead on the Jayhawks for third place in the standings.
