Kristen Schuth was named Director of Athletics at Genesee Community College on May 1, 2013, overseeing 11 intercollegiate athletic programs and multiple facilities on Genesee’s main campus. Schuth was promoted to the Assistant Vice President of Student Engagement and Inclusion on September 1st, 2019, while still serving as the Director of Athletics. Schuth now oversees the Student Engagement and Inclusion office with the responsibilities of management of orientation, campus clubs and programming, student government, and commencement as well as athletics.

Since taking the reins as the Director of Athletics at Genesee, Schuth has become more involved at the regional and national level. She became part of regional leadership in 2016 when she became the NJCAA Region III Women’s Assistant Director. Since 2018 she holds the position of Women’s Director for the NJCAA Region III and currently chairs the committees for Division 3 Softball and Division 3 Soccer at the national level. Schuth is actively involved with internal and external organizations including being a part of the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA), a member of the GCC foundation Board, and many college committees. Additionally, she serves as a member of the Executive Committee of the National Alliance of Two-Year College Athletic Administrators (NATYCAA) a position she has held since 2019.

Schuth oversees the daily operations of the Richard C. Call Arena where athletics is currently housed as well as the state-of-the-art fitness center and field house. She is very dedicated to the work she does, going above and beyond, by hosting multiple regional tournaments and previously securing the bid to host the 2016 men's lacrosse national tournament. Genesee is currently slated to host two national tournaments in the next three years for Men’s and Women’s Soccer. She was also the driving force of Genesee Athletics getting their own website and increasing GCC athletics social media presence. Schuth also serves the community hosting lions club & rotary basketball tournaments yearly and previously hosting section 5 and section 6 cross country, basketball and softball sectionals.

In her tenure, Schuth has led the Cougars to capture 2 national championships, 12 regional titles and 17 conference titles. The athletic department produced two dual chancellor’s award winners, 4 athletic chancellor’s award winners, 39 NJCAA All Americans, 236 All Region players, and 217 All Conference players under Schuth. Academics is always a priority for Schuth as the college’s athletic department has also produced two Academic All American Teams, 173 Academic All Americans, 205 Academic All-Region and 334 Academic All-Conference awards since 2013. Schuth has implemented the LEADS (Leaders in Education, Athletics and Development of Student-Athletes) program that enhances student-athletes leadership skills and promotes Genesee’s athletic programs within the community.

Prior to returning to Genesee Athletics in 2013, Schuth served at Finger Lakes Community College as the Assistant Director of Athletics. During her time at FLCC, Schuth was responsible for academic monitoring, retention, scheduling, overseeing sports information and website updates, eligibility and compliance.

Schuth began her first go-around at Genesee in 2004 as the head coach of the women’s softball program. In 2005 she became an adjunct faculty member within the Physical

Education Department, the Sports Information Coordinator, and an Academic Advisor. She continued working collaboratively to promote the image of Genesee Athletics until 2010 when she went to Finger Lakes CC.

Schuth has been very successful in her professional career as she was named the Region III Athletic Director of the Year in 2015, just two years after taking over the athletic department. Schuth was the recipient of Genesee Community College’s first ever President’s Award, which is given in recognition of extraordinary service to students or other college constituents, in support of the College’s mission and strategic priorities. Schuth also has been inducted into three Hall of Fames for her athletic accomplishments; Hilton High School Hall of Fame, Chase Basketball Hall of Fame and The College at Brockport’s Athletic Hall of Fame.

An undergraduate of The College at Brockport, Schuth earned her Master’s degree from California University of Pennsylvania in Athletic Administration. She currently resides in Spencerport with her husband and two children.
