Albuquerque and Chiodo Named WNYAC Athletes of the Year

BATAVIA, NY – Rodrigo Albuquerque from men’s soccer and Jason Chiodo from men’s lacrosse were named the 2018-19 Western New York Athletic Conference (WNYAC) Male athletes of the year. Albuquerque was the recipient of the Freshman Male Athlete of the Year while Chiodo was named Senior Male Athlete of the Year.

Freshman forward Rodrigo Albuquerque ended a stellar first season as the NJCAA Region III Player of the Year, a First Team All-American selection, a member of the All-Region III First Team and All-WNYAC First Team, a First Team NSCAA Coaches Association All-American selection, and the SUNY Chancellors Award Winner for men’s soccer. The Recife, Brazil native led the nation in goals with 32 and points with 76, and helped Genesee to a NJCAA Region III championship and an appearance in the NJCAA National Tournament.

Jason Chiodo was a captain and two-year starter for the Genesee men’s lacrosse program. The Hamburg, NY native led the nation in points (81) and assists (38) this season and was a two-time All-American after being selected to the second team in 2018 and the first team this season. He is also a two-time All-Region III and All-WNYAC selection.
