27 Student-Athletes Named NJCAA All-Academic

BATAVIA, NY – 27 student-athletes representing the intercollegiate athletics programs at Genesee Community College earned a spot on one of the three NJCAA All-Academic Teams. Student-athletes are eligible to earn academic honors by achieving an overall GPA of 3.60 or higher.

Genesee had one student athlete named NJCAA All-Academic First Team and that was Jose Manoel Faria Cavalini from men’s soccer. Cavalini earned a 4.0 GPA.

Lauren Hull and Mackenzie O’Brien  from women’s lacrosse, Rodrigo Albuquerque from men’s soccer,  Matthew McCoy from men’s golf, Carli Marino, Gillian Flint, and Brittni Way from softball, Michaela Curletta from women’s basketball,  Lyndsey Rowland from volleyball, Jayson Faynor from baseball, Collin Tolsma from men’s lacrosse and Ryan Mahaney from swimming and diving were named to the NJCAA All-Academic Second Team.

Earning spots on the NJCAA All-Academic Third Team includes Maki Iwami and Erin Cappotelli from softball, Ana Carolina Cerezer Pinto from volleyball, Kyle McMillen, Hiago Barros De Souza, and Ross White from men’s soccer, Hannah Kirisits, Ashley Barclay and Allison Becker from women’s lacrosse, Maddie Cummings from women’s soccer, Colin Noeth and John Faynor from baseball, and Elizabeth Richardson and Natalie Amico from swimming and diving.

The Genesee Community College volleyball team was named an NJCAA Academic Team of the Year. As a team, the program had a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.13.
