Women's Soccer Punches Their Ticket to NJCAA National Championship

GCC defeats NCCC 4-1

HERKIMER, NY... The nationally ranked Genesee Women's Soccer program earned a win over North Country in the Region III DIII Pool B Finals, 4-1. Genesee punhced their ticket to the NJCAA National Championship with the win.

Genesee got on the scoreboard first, with a goal from Bryn Luckey, assisted by Ashley Hearn. North Country would tie the game back at 1-1 shortly after, with a goal from Marie Sibbing. The Cougars would break the tie after a goal from Ashley Bliss, assisted by Kelly Mickey and Ayuka Toshimoto, to give Genesee a 2-1 lead.

Scoring the remaining two goals for the Couagrs were Chloe Barrett, assisted by Grace Pastuszynski, and Kelsey Fuller scored her only goal of the contest on a penatly kick in the second half.

Kellie Brewer played all ninety minutes in net for the Cougars, allowing one goal on six shots.

Genesee is set to compete in the NJCAA National Championships on November 11-14 in Batavia, NY.
