Bliss' First Half Hat Trick Helps Lead Genesee Over FLCC

GCC defeats FLCC 11-0

BATAVIA, NY… Genesee Women's Soccer, ranked sixth nationally in the latest NJCAA DIII Women's Soccer rankings, added another big W to the win column with a shutout victory over Finger Lakes Community College on the road, 11-0.

Kelly Mickey got the scoring started for the Cougars as she put the game's first goal in the back of the net off an assist from Gabby Bigham and Bryn Luckey. About twelve minutes later, Ashley Bliss would net her first goal of the contest off an assist from Bigham. Ayuka Toshimoto would grow Genesee's lead to 3-0 after she netted her only goal of the game, assisted by Ashley Hearn. During the remaining five minutes in the opening half, Genesee would swell their lead to 6-0 thanks to goals from Macie Riggs, assisted by Bliss, and then two more goals from Bliss, with assists credited to Kelsey Fuller and Gabby Bigham. Bliss would finish the first half with a hat trick and one assist on her stat line.

The second half resulted in much of the same for the Cougars. Macie Riggs would add her second goal of the game to grow the lead to 7-0. Bryn Luckey would chip in another for Genesee off an assist from Fuller. The scoring continued for the Cougars as Lilly Thompson would bury two more quick goals, both assisted by Bigham, to increase the Genesee lead to 10-0. Genesee's last goal of the game would come from Julianna Amesbury, assisted by Maddie Young with about eight minutes remaining in regulation.

Gabby Bigham had a huge night for the Cougars, assisting on five of Genesee's eleven goals. She also had two shots, one on goal. Macie Riggs and Lilly Thompson would finish the match with two goals, and Kelsey Fuller was responsible for two assists for Genesee.

Kellie Brewer played all ninety minutes in the shutout for the Cougars, stopping all six of the shots she faced.

Genesee improves to 8-1 on the season and now looks ahead to a crucial matchup against Herkimer College on October 2 at 1pm in Batavia.
