BATAVIA, NY... Genesee Women's Soccer signed their fifth recruit, Sophia Bixby, on January 31st. Sophia is a 5'6" midfielder/defender and a 2-year All-Star player. Bixby is from Brockport, NY and was homeschooled. She has played for the Rapids, the Cobras, and Spencerport. Bixby also plays volleyball and basketball. While at GCC, she has been awarded Dean's List with an overall GPA of 3.892. Sophia is currently enrolled in Health Studies and plans to major in Nursing.

Sophia has been coached in the past by a Genesee Cougar Alum, Denae McGrath. Denae was a freshman on the team when Jeff Reyngoudt was the assistant coach of the Cougars and then during her sophomore year was Jeff's first year as Head Coach at GCC. "Denae was a joy to watch play and I'm thankful that she was a part of the beginning of my journey at Genesee. She is a knowledgeable player and knowing that she coached Sophia is reassuring that she will have what it takes to be a Cougar", stated Reyngoudt.

Jeff and Macy have started this recruiting season strong and are working hard to add more great additions to the team. They will be signing more players in the coming months and are excited about next season's incoming class. The Cougars ended their 2021 season with a 15-3-1 record and competed at the National Tournament.
