Burgess Signs to Join Genesee Women's Soccer

Carly Burgess signs LOI with GCC women's soccer

Genesee Women's Soccer signed their first recruit of the year, Carly Burgess, on December 1st. Carly is a 5'5" center-midfielder and a 4-year varsity starter for Alexander High School girls' soccer team. Carly was also a Captain for her high school team during her varsity season. She was named Honorable Mention All-Star and an Exceptional Senior as well. Burgess has played for the Batavia Soccer Club over the years. She was also awarded MVP for her high school team two years in a row, Junior and Senior year. Carly was leading scorer of her team her Sophomore and Junior season and has 19 career goals and 9 career assists. Burgess has participated on her high school track team as a pole vaulter and a sprinter. Her main sprint events were the 100, 200, and the 4x100 Relay. She plans to be an Athletic Trainer and will be majoring in Physical Education Studies.

Carly is one of many Alexander girls to come and play for the Cougars. Head Coach Jeff Reyngoudt has recruited over the years from her high school and had many great players. "Every Alexander girl who has ever played for us, has incredible work-ethic and the drive that we are looking for. We're excited about Carly and know that she will fit in great with the team", stated Reyngoudt. Macie Riggs and Taylor Fletcher, who both played this past season and made it to the National Tournament, are also Alexander alums. Macie and Taylor also had the pleasure of playing with Carly while they were still in high school.

Jeff and Macy have started this recruiting season strong and are working hard to add more great additions to the team. They will be signing more players in the coming months and are excited about next season's incoming class. The Cougars ended their 2021 season with a 15-3-1 record and competed at the National Tournament.
