No. 4 Women’s Soccer Team Pink Game Nets Season’s Tenth Shutout Win

The No. 4 Genesee Community College women's soccer team recorded its 10th shutout of the season with a 5-0 win over visiting Mercyhurst North East at the team's annual Pink and Sophomore nights.

Genesee celebrated breast cancer awareness month by donning pink jerseys, while sophomore players were honored in a pre-game ceremony.

The Cougars extended their win streak to four games and have now have shutouts in eight of their last nine wins.

Miko Yamishita led the way with points on four of Genesee's five goals with the game-winning goal and three helpers, while Allison Duhow added a pair of goals.

Also scoring for Genesee was Sara Zakes and Allison Becker. Adding assists for the Cougars was Paige Biggins and Ryley O'Mara.

Genesee out-shot the Saints 24-1 with 16 finding the net. At the other end, current Cougar Female Athlete of the Week Jaclyn Guzdek earned the shutout.

The women's team next travels to SUNY Broome Oct. 21 for a 1 p.m. start.
