BATAVIA, NY... Genesee signed their first lacrosse recruit for the 2022 season, Ella Smeader, on December 11th. Ella is a 5'5" midfielder and played lacrosse for 5 years at Hamburg High School. Smeader was on the All-Time Roster for Hamburg Girls Lacrosse is 2017 and 2018. She was also on the team when they won Sectional Finals. Ella is transferring from Erie Community College to pursue a Nursing major.

Ella's older brother Jake Smeader played for the Genesee Men's Lacrosse team in the past. Her younger brother, Will, is currently on the team. "We're excited to have Ella here and thankful that her family keeps choosing GCC" stated Head Coach Jeff Reyngoudt. Jeff also stated that Ella will be a captain on the team, alongside sophomore Ashley Hearn. Ashley has yet to have a lacrosse season while at GCC due to Covid. "Ashley and Ella will make a great team and we have high expectations for their leadership" said Assistant Coach Macy Reyngoudt.
