BATAVIA, NY… The Genesee Community College women's basketball team came up just two points short against the North Country Community College Saints Saturday afternoon, falling 53-51.   

In a contest where Genesee led from the outset, the defense played well throughout the game. But ultimately, the Saints made key shots late in the contest to earn the victory.

Desiree Zielinski had a game-high 20 points for the blue and gold, while collecting eight rebounds. Catherine Wolck scored 14 points and collected 11 rebounds to earn a double-double. Tatum Gagne scored seven points, while Sydney Hnat scored four points. Yumika Takeda, Jordyn Ertel, and Emilee Wright all scored for the Cougars. 

Genesee will be honoring their Sophomore class on Sophomore Night Tuesday, January 30 at 5pm as they host Finger Lakes Community College.
