The Genesee Community College women's basketball team begins play with a road matchup at Onondaga Community Nov.1 at 6 p.m.

It's one of 30 scheduled games for the 2018-19 season and one of nine in November. The Cougars' home-opener is Nov. 18 against Howard Community College at 12 p.m.

The months of December and January bring a flood of home games where the Cougars host oppositions 11 times with just three contests on the road. The annual Cougar Classic is Dec. 8-9 and highlights a monthly season-high of seven home games.

Western New York Athletic Conference play begins Jan. 23 at Erie. Genesee completed WNYAC action last season and in their final game won 78-62. In that game, the team recorded its highest winning margin in the league in a game the Cougars never trailed in. The team hopes to pick up this season where it left off.

Returner TaLia Burgess had a dozen points in that game and is one of four returning players this season. Joining Burgess are Chevaneese Millington, Rachel Meyer and Jordon Wright. The prior three averaged between 16-21 minutes-per-game last season with Burgess' totals being best in average points-per-game (11) and rebounds (6.7).

The Cougars look to improve upon last season's 7-22 record and return to the regional playoffs and the opportunity to make a national bid.
