In danger of losing its third straight Western New York Athletic Conference (WNYAC) game of the season, the GCC women's basketball team fought off an 11 point fourth quarter deficit on Saturday to knock off visiting Jamestown CC, 64-59.

Norvonee Hall scored a game high 20 points, 12 of which came in the second half, and sparked a 26-10 GCC run to end the game with five straight points when the Cougars trailed JCC 49-38 with just over seven minutes to play.

Genesee forced 26 Jamestown turnovers and capitalized with 31 points off of takeaways.

The Cougars led by six early in the first quarter but played a back-and-forth half with the Jayhawks and took a three point lead into the break.

JCC outscored GCC 16-12 in the third quarter to take the advantage into the final period, but the Cougars held the Jayhawks to just three field goals in the final seven minutes to earn their first WNYAC of the season.

Hall grabbed 21 rebounds to record a double-double, Rosalyn Sealey added 13 points and nine boards, Lauren Watson finished with 12 points and three assists, Kiyomi Nakakoji scored all eight of her points in the first half and Brionna Blocker tallied seven points, seven rebounds and came away with six steals.

Genesee (9-13, 1-3) will play its next three games on the road, beginning on Wednesday at Mercyhurst North East. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
