The Genesee Community College men's and women's swimming and diving teams traveled to Jamestown for its invitational tournament with impressive results. Between the Cougars, Jayhawks and Erie Community College Kats, Genesee took first overall, first in men's competition and first in women's events for a sweep of their Western New York Athletic Conference opponents.

Overall, Genesee netted 701 points, which was 250 more than the second-place Kats at 451, while Jamestown accumulated 228. The Cougar men bested the competition with 477 points, which was 212 more than second-place Erie; while the Cougar women finished ahead of Jamestown in a much closer meet by 37 points by scoring 224 to the Jayhawks' 187.

Overall, the men's team took seven first-places via three swimmers and the women's team won five races among three swimmers also in individual competition. The men's team also captured one relay.

Ferran Martinez won the most races for Genesee with four that included a pair each at 100 yards (butterfly, breaststroke) and a pair at 200 yards (freestyle, IM).

Three Cougar swimmers won a pair of races each. Matthew Langerman won a pair of freestyles (500- and 1000-yards). Nanako Shiozawa won the 50-yard freestyle and the 100 butterfly, while Angel Priest took the 100-yard backstroke and the 200-yard IM.

Natalie Amico won the 500-yard freestyle and Joan Ferrer took the 100-yard freestyle to round out the individual winners.

The team event the Cougars captured was the men's 400-yard freestyle relay behind the efforts of Ferrer, Langerman, Martinez and Nathan Richardson.
