Genesee Splits Onondaga on Sophomore Day

BATAVIA, NY… The Genesee Community College softball team earned a split with the Onondaga Community College Lazers Saturday afternoon on Sophomore Day.  

Reigning NJCAA Division III Softball player of the week Taylor Stefaniak had the lone run in game one for Genesee, scoring in the bottom of the first inning. Sam Tatarski and Brittany Cole pitched in the contest for Genesee.

Kennedy Lampart hit a home run in Genesee's five run fifth inning to propel the Cougars to a 7-5 win over the Lazers to earn the split on the afternoon. Emily Kams threw a complete game, giving up five runs on five hits. Kams also got it done at the plate, hitting a home run as well.

Genesee will be in action in the NJCAA Region III sub-regionals on Tuesday afternoon as they travel to Erie Community College. First pitch is scheduled for 3pm.
