BATAVIA, NY – The Genesee Community College softball team earned a split with NJCAA Region III and Western New York Athletic Conference foe Erie Community College Kats Saturday afternoon.
The Cougars got off to a quick start in game one with Erin Cappotelli going deep with a 2 run HR. Followed up by excellent pitching by Emily Kams and solid defense all around, the Cougars were able to capitalize with a 7-2 final score.
Game two of the day was started by pitcher Brittany Cole. Behind her pitching, Genesee was able to mount a 2-0 lead off a 2 run single by Carli Marino. The Kats would storm back late in the 7th to cut the lead from 2-0 to a tie the game, and proceeded to drive in the winning run.
The Cougars stand at 6-10 on the season and will play again tomorrow vs. SUNY Broome with game one scheduled to start at 1 pm and game two scheduled for 3 pm.
