NORTHEAST, PA… The Genesee Community College softball team dropped their NJCAA Region III and WNYAC season openers to the Mercyhurst Northeast Saints Wednesday afternoon by the scores of 13-2, and 4-1.

In game one, Genesee tied the game early in the top of the second but that was all what the Cougars could muster as the host Saints scored six runs in the bottom of the inning to take complete control of the game.

The nightcap saw Genesee get within one run of the Saints in the top of the fourth inning. Mercyhurst would then score two in the bottom of the inning and would go on to score the win.

Genesee (1-9) looks to get on the winning track at home on Thursday, April 4 as they host Finger Lakes Community College in a double header starting at 3pm.
