Ed Port Signs National Letter of Intent to Play at Nebraska Omaha

BATAVIA, NY… Sophomore Ed Port has officially signed his National Letter of Intent to play soccer and continue his education at the University of Nebraska Omaha, a Division I athletic institution. Port has also received a full scholarship from the university.

Ed was an important piece to the Men's Soccer program the last two seasons, helping Genesee reach the NJCAA National Semi-Finals in back-to-back years. In 2019, Port solidified his place in the Genesee record books, breaking the school record for most assists in a season (33). Port currently sits atop the Genesee record books for career assists (54), third in career points (114), and third in season points for his 2019 season (77). Ed also owns the Genesee record for most assists in a single game (5) and most points in a single game (11). Port's 33 assists in his 2019 fall season is also now the NJCAA DIII Men's Soccer season assist record.

Port also had his share of honors and accolades during his time at Genesee. At the end of the 2019 season, Ed was named to the Western New York Athletic Conference (WNYAC) All-Conference First Team, was a part of the WNYAC Champion team, and was named WNYAC Player of the Year. He was also named to the Region III Division III All-Region First Team. Port was also selected for the NJCAA All-American First Team.

Ed was also recognized by the United States Coaches Association, receiving All-East First Team and All-American First Team honors.

Port, who played forward for the Cougars the last two seasons, is a native of Reading, England, and attended Willink High School.
