No. 3 Genesee Wins Men’s Lacrosse Home Finale against Herkimer

The No. 3 Genesee Community College men's lacrosse team improved to 10-2 in their home-season finale against Herkimer April 21.

Andrew Forte needed just 8 seconds to win his first of eight faceoffs and convert it into the game's first tally. Genesee would never trail in its 19-4 win.

The Cougars finished 23-of-26 from the circle with Brad Hejmanowski winning a dozen faceoffs, although Forte led the team in groundballs with 10. Overall, the Cougars dominated the groundball game 49-13, as well as in shots 63-9.

Zach wade led the way up front with a team-high in goals (four), shots (11) and shots on net (six). Evan Hollfelder had three tallies; while four Cougars recorded a pair of goals each that included Patrick Bilbrey, Jordan Brennan, Kevin McParlene and Jason Chiodo.

Rounding out goals for the Cougars were Joshua Shields, Alex Mack, Tyler Thompson and Forte.

Brennan had a team-high in assists with four, followed by three from Chiodo and a pair from McParlene. Single helpers came from Hollfelder, Josh Bernas, and Michael Trimper.

Genesee will await a play-in playoff winner yet to be determined, as the Cougars earned a first-round bye as one of the top-two teams in Region-III.
