Men’s Basketball Defeats TC3 To Clinch #1 Seed in MSAC Playoffs

BATAVIA, NY… The #15 nationally ranked Genesee Community College men's basketball team defeated the Tomkins Cortland Community College Panthers 72-63 Wednesday night to clinch the top seed in the upcoming Mid State Athletic Conference (MSAC) playoffs.

 

Genesee also honored their sophomore class prior to tipoff and held a ceremony to celebrate the career of GCC President Dr. James Sunser who will be retiring at the end of the spring semester. 

 

The Cougars were led offensively by sophomore Deontay Sprattley who scored 25 points and collected nine rebounds. Rayvon Weir scored 16 points off the Cougars bench. Wayne Longmore scored 10 points, while CJ McCullum scored six points, but collected 12 rebounds. Jo'El King collected 10 rebounds. 

 

Genesee (20-6, 12-1) will return to action on Wednesday, February 14 as they travel to Jefferson Community College for a 7pm tipoff in Watertown.
