Men's Lacrosse releases 2019 schedule

BATAVIA, NY…  Head Coach Dave Hoover announced the 2019 Genesee Community College men’s lacrosse schedule. The Cougars will play 13 regular season games in 2019, including the final four teams that participated in the 2018 NJCAA Men’s Lacrosse Championships.

“The coaches try to give our team a very competitive schedule which will prepare them for the National Tournament“, said Hoover, who enters his thirteenth season at Genesee with a 119-65 record. “We play a very tough group of games out of Region, as well as all the top teams in Region III”, Hoover added.

The Cougars will play six home games on the main campus of Genesee Community College, with the remaining seven contests on the road.

Genesee will start the 2019 season on the road on March 5 against Finger Lakes Community College. The home opener will be on Saturday, March 9 vs CCBC Essex at 1pm, then host conference opponent Monroe Community College on March 13 at 6:00pm. The Cougars will travel to Nassau Community College on March 17, and then to Hudson Valley CC on March 20. The Cougars will square off against reigning National Champions Onondaga CC on Saturday, March 23 at 1pm. The team’s last game in March will be on March 27th at Mercyhurst North East.

The month of April will begin with a trip to Howard Community College on April 6. The Cougars will return home for the next three contests as SUNY Broome (April 12), Mohawk Valley CC (April 16), and Tompkins Cortland CC (April 18) all come traveling to Batavia. The month will end with road games at Herkimer College April 20, and at Jefferson CC on April 27.

After the Region 3 Tournament the first weekend of May hosted at Onondaga, the attention will shift to the NJCAA Men’s Lacrosse National Championships. The first round will take place on Saturday, May 11. The following weekend, all eyes on men’s lacrosse will be on Batavia as SUNY GCC will be hosting the 2019 NJCAA Men’s Lacrosse National Championships.
