Women's Volleyball drops two at home

Batavia, NY - Genesee Women’s Volleyball hosts a POD match up against Jefferson Community College and Fulton Montgomery Community College.

With Jefferson leading towards the end of the first set, The cougars managed to make a late push and get things closer. The set now at 22 to 24. Even with their late push for the first set, Jefferson would take the lead in the match.

The Cougars would respond well, taking their command of the set very early on. Four straight points from the cougars would leave Jefferson unanswered. That would not keep the Cannoneers from attempting to respond to the early barrage from Genesee. Now tied 7-7. Jefferson re-taking the lead, Sydney Martin’s serving would overwhelm Jefferson and close the gap. The Cannoneers would be the ones to claim the third set, and win the match.

The Cougars began the first set off strong, and kept the playing field even with the Raiders. Both teams would go back and forth putting their own points on the board. The Raiders, soon to be the ones with the lead, 18-15, but faults from their own side would give the cougars a chance to reclaim the lead. Fulton would take the first set.

To begin the second set, Fulton took the early lead but a sweeping kill from Marissa Ciufo dulled the raiders' attacks. Even with the cougars responding well on defense, the raiders stand as the ones in the lead, 2-0.
